Beautifully unique ceramic tiles from the Holy Land
Introduction
The ceramic tiles and pottery of Exotic Artistries Group Pty Ltd in Australia have been sourced from renowned suppliers in the Holy Land whose unique and breathtaking products have been exhibited all over the world in various museums and institutions. They are amongst the very few original and authentic pottery and tile murals which are handmade and painted replicating the methods used by ancient Phoenician civilisations.
The ceramic tiles are hand painted by artisans using the unique technique of under glaze ceramic hand painting. The tile pattern is first outlined with the black colour and then the rest of the colours are hand painted on the tile. Once all the colours are applied, the tile is glazed with a transparent lead free glaze and placed in a ceramic kiln. The kiln is fired up to a temperature of 1000 degrees centigrade (red hot) whereby the ceramic colours are sealed with the melting of the transparent glaze on the surface of the tile. The firing usually takes a cycle of about twenty four hours from start to finish. Artists in Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Hebron have produced the various designs available.
The most common sizes are 10 x 10 cm and 15 x 15 cm. Rectangular type tiles are called “corner tiles” and are needed depending on the design of the full tiles combination.
Tile murals can be made from each type of tile in 4, 9, or 16 pieces from the offered range of different colours and patterns as per coded items.
